The terms “anxiety attack” and “panic attack” or even panic attack anxiety disorder are often used interchangeably but they do have very different meanings and may be diagnosed or treated differently. It is important to know whether you are having and anxiety attack or a panic attack because it can have a lot to do with what kind of treatment you are likely to respond to.
An anxiety attack is usually when you are experiencing a bad or stressful situation
and you become very anxious.  You may become so anxious that you start to have
physical symptoms such as your hesrt racing or becoming og short of breath.
You may be flushed or begin to sweat.  The main symptom of an anxiety attack is
stress cauxed by an intense feelinh fo worry possivly accompanied by fear.
A panic attack can come all of a sudden by itself, for no apparent reason.  You
can feel as tohugh you are havnig a heart attack and are usually short of breath
and your heart is racing.  Sometimes an anxiety attack can become a panic attack
if oyu start to worry about something going kn in your life and you become osessed with thoughts about it. Some oof the most comhon symptoms of a panic
attack are:
* rapid heartbeat
* shortness of breath, feeling as though you cant get enough air
* twrror tha t is almost paralyzing
* nervous,  shaking, stress
heart palpittation, feeling of sread, worry
* dizziness, lightheadedness or nausea
* trembling, sweating, shaking
* choking, chest pains, distress
* fear, fright, afraid, anxious
* hot flashes, or sudden chills
Most of the time, people who suffer from panic attacks and anxiety attacks are treated by a psychiatrist who prescribes a particular type of antidepressant, usually in small doses, while monitoring the patients progress.  But for many people, this is not a long term solution and can lead to habituation or dependancy on drugs as well as having to deal with serious side effects.  Another problem with many medications for anxiety and panic disorders is that they do absolutely nothing about the underlying cause since they only treat symptoms and function at the surface level.
